We round off this month’s newsletter with another tale from the tabloids. This month’s plonker medal goes to Christopher Grimes, a funeral home director in the Isle of Wight, who was caught having sex with a colleague in the coffin storeroom.

Mr Grimes has since been dismissed and the funeral home in question is now the talk of the town. It is also reported that the female employee has also left employment – which infers resignation over dismissal.

PJH Law would always argue that anyone caught in the act at work would be liable for dismissal. However, there are some industries such as food hygiene and working with children/vulnerable where such acts are even more inappropriate. Funeral homes definitely fall into this category.
