Tabloid Employment Law

Every month we bring you the most absurd employment cases that becomes sensationalist click bait. This month’s calamitous Claimant is a Police Chief Superintendent who was sacked for numerous incidents of gross misconduct.

He simulated a sex act on banana whilst being interviewed for the local radio. Put his tongue in a female colleague’s ear. Rubbed a female colleagues scarf on his crotch. Finally, another tongue in the ear incident involving a temporary member of staff who also received unwanted stroking, kissing and inappropriate questions.

The Claimant tried to pass this behaviour off as burn out resulting from trying to salvage an underperforming precinct but unsurprisingly the ET rejected this defence. The lesson for employers is do not give the most senior position to a man who clearly has an inappropriate attitude towards women and an uncontrollable ear fetish.
