workwear news

Last year, PwC caused a furore when one of their agency staff was sent home for refusing to wear high heels. Since then there have been high profile petitions for the government to review dress codes in the work place, in particular the need for female employees to wear high heels.

The Government has announced that it will publish dress code guidance this summer. The guidance will focus on high heels, make up, skirt length and unbuttoned/low cut tops.

It doesn’t seem likely that there will be an outright ban but it could lead to a different interpretation of the Equality Act which will impact future sex discrimination cases regarding workwear.
