A police officer serving in Greater Manchester is currently in the process of suing the police force for racial and religious discrimination.

Mr Singh claims that has been subjected to less favourable treatment whilst in the force as he has refused to remove his turban on a number of occasions on religious grounds. On one occasion he was asked to remove his turban on a riot training course and instead substitute it with a modified turban. Mr Singh felt deeply offended by this incident and likened it to an episode of Only Fools and Horses.

Mr Singh is being backed by the British Sikh Police Association and, if successful, it is estimated that he could be awarded as much as £200,000.
