As always we round off our newsletter with a tale of absurdity from tabloids. This month’s story is also a timely reminder that we are fast approaching Christmas party season.

Alyn Williams ran a Michelin starred restaurant inside a Mayfair hotel. He had opened the restaurant in 2011 helping it to win a Michelin Star and four AA rosettes. However, the premises was still owned by the hotel, The Westbury.

Mr Williams was dismissed after the hotel found out he had hosted a private party their for friends when the restaurant was closed. Nothing suggests the party was extraordinarily debauched or wild, or, that any property was damaged or stolen. However, as the party was hosted without permission it appears Mr Williams was dismissed for gross misconduct.

Many workplaces do parties at the office. However, hosting them without permission is inadvisable!
