Our second tabloid tale is perhaps best described as Schadenfreude of the week. Zoe Brunt, purportedly the UK’s meanest traffic warden, has been dismissed for parking on double yellows.

Apparently known to brag about ticketing people, Brunt posted online about the pleasure she took from giving out tickets. This included laughing at a sewerage worker who she ticketed whilst he used a public toilet and taking pleasure in nearly reducing a Jaguar owner to tears.

However, as in most work cases involving social media, the posts proved to be her downfall. She was dismissed after posting a picture of herself parking illegally stating it was a perk of the job as she knew other wardens weren’t working. This is the story of Icarus for 2018, we await to find out the results of Brunt’s threatened unfair dismissal proceedings.
