Twenty employees, including some senior executives have been sacked following an investigation into a culture of sexual harassment and sex discrimination at Uber.

The world’s favourite gig economy, ‘ride-sharing’ application has once again been in the headlines for the wrong reasons and this latest debacle follows a viral blog post by a former employee making numerous allegations of sex discrimination.

The alleged conduct ranged from sexual propositions and criticism of female employees work ethic, to not ordering female employees leather jackets when all male employees received one. The post also claims that several complaints of sexual harassment were made about one particular manager and each employee who complained was told it was the manager’s first offence.

Following this viral blog post Uber set up an anonymous hotline which resulted in over 200 complaints, a subsequent investigation and 20 dismissal. A sign that the company are at last now taking the issue seriously.
