The minister of Justice Bridget Prentice has said that companies that fail to honour awards made in the Tribunal for unfair dismissal and discrimination will be listed on a Register of Judgments.  The register will be open to the public and thus in the public eye.  It is hoped that the policy of naming and shaming means companies will pay the awards and more quickly too.

We have only had two instances in the last four years where companies have not paid awards.  If an employer does not pay you need to get the Judgment transferred to the County Court for enforcement.  Interest and costs can then accrue and you then need to take steps to enforce the Judgment like a County Court Judgment.  The bailiff worked in one case and in the second the individual paid before it got to that stage.  It can be very frustrating to get that far and still have nothing!
